Lunch, Relax, and God's Grace

Thanks to those who came to have lunch with me today during your Christmas Break. We had a good time hanging out, eating lunch and the goodies some people brought.

The group also helped me do a little brainstorming for my New Year's Eve sermon on Romans 8:35-39. To see that sermon, go to: New Year's Eve Sermon.

We ended with a devotion in the sanctuary (you know, the big church part; we had candles, Christmas lights, dim lighting, music). We talked about God's grace, how He gives us life after death as a gift. It's not something we can earn. So even the worst thing you've ever done, something you might still feel guilty about, that is forgiven, that won't keep you from life after death. God gives you salvation by His grace.

Super Bowl Party Date Change!

Some of our brochures have gone out advertising the date of our Super Bowl/Anti-Super Bowl Party. However, the NFL never checked with us when they decided that the game is on Sunday, February 1, and not the last week in January.

If you've got the party in your calendar, and I know you do, please make sure you now put it down for February 1, 5:00 PM until the game's over.

Ice Skating: My Back Hurts but I Had Fun!

OK, I'll admit I'm a little sore today either from falling (thanks to trying to chase Kayla) or just from trying to remember how to skate.

We had 26 youth (16 RYMS, 10 friends). It was a great time! I really enjoyed spending time with the RYMS, and had a great chance to get to know some of our friends who might be interested in future RYMS events.

Thanks to everyone who planned and helped with this event: Mary, Matt, Brittany, Robin, Kris, Amy, Jenny, Donna, Nancy, Dick, and Jesse.
